The action is set in an Afghan village that 26-year-old, tyro director-writer Shahrbanoo Sadat, Afghanistan’s first-ever distaff feature helmer, was forced to re-create in the dusty mountains of neighboring Tajikistan because of security concerns for her mostly foreign crew — and the tale’s naked, green, female fairy.
